"i thank You God for most this amazing
day: for the leaping greenly spirits of trees
and a blue true dream of sky; and for everything
which is natural which is infinite which is yes"
- E.E. Cummings [1], from "i thank You God for most this amazing"
September 16 is International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer [2], established in 1994 to commemorate the 1987 resolution signing of the Montreal Protocol, which brought attention to limiting the production and consumption of CFCs and other ozone-depleting substances. It is a partial success story, since substitutes for CFCs tend to be HFCs, hydrofluorocarbons, which are greenhouse gases.
