Houses of two and three floors at Udaya Colony in Kerala state's Kochi city have been rebuilt on a raised platform to avoid flooding. The newly built houses cover 326.7 square feet and have a common feature — an internal staircase that keeps the families united. The first and second generations now stay under the same roof.
