Sisters of the Holy Cross celebrate jubilee anniversaries

Notre Dame, Ind. – Five Sisters of the Holy Cross will celebrate their jubilee years of consecrated life during a virtual ceremony on July 16, 2022. One sister is celebrating 50 years since her initial profession, and four are celebrating 25 years.

Sister Joy O’Grady, CSC, celebrates 50 years of consecrated life. Sister Joy began her ministry in pastoral care at St. Joseph’s Hospital, South Bend, Indiana. In 1983, she opened a private family counseling practice in South Bend. From 1994-99, Sister Joy served as coordinator for the Congregation’s Mid-West Area. She was elected to serve as president of the Congregation from 2004-09. From 2014-19, she was coordinator of the Area of North America. She has been in her current position as a psychotherapist in private practice since 2019.

Sister Maria de Lourdes de Deus Pimentel, CSC, is a 25-year jubilarian. Sister Maria served in parish ministry in Brazil for 15 years. During that time, she also organized social promotion programs in Janaúba, Minas Gerais. From 2014-16, she worked with the Pastoral da Mulher Marginalizada, a sector of the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil. Sister Maria also assists with Congregation vocations and has served as candidate director in Brazil since 2019.

Sister Noylí Margot Ríos Manzo, CSC, celebrates 25 years of consecrated life. As a psychologist, Sister Noylí has served in parish ministry and social service work in Peru. She was coordinator for the department of Psychology at Colegio Nuestra Señora de Cocharcas, and from 2009 to 2012 served with the Diocese of Chosica. From 2014 to 2019, she served as councilor for the Congregation’s Area of South America and coordinator for the sisters in Peru. She has been working with the Peruvian Episcopal Conference, Lima, since 2019.

Sister Sheshanti Margaret Nokrek, CSC, marks 25 years as a religious. She has served in education and pastoral ministry in Bangladesh. In 1998, she began teaching at Corpus Christi primary school in Jalchatra, Tangail. She then taught at Nirmola Education Center and ministered in a Khasi village in Kulaura, Moulvibazar, before continuing her pastoral ministry in Tangail. Sister Sheshanti is treasurer for the Congregation’s Area of Asia and has been teaching at Holy Cross Girls High School, Dhaka, for 15 years.

Sister Linda Veronica Gomes, CSC, is a 25-year jubilarian. Sister Linda Veronica began her ministries as a junior high school teacher in Kulaura, Moulvibazar Bangladesh. During this time, she also was responsible for the Young Christian Students Movement, church liturgies and women cooperatives. Beginning in 2001, she conducted pastoral ministries and taught school in Jalchatra, Tangail, Bangladesh. Currently, Sister Linda Veronica is teaching grades 6-10 at Corpus Christi High School, Jalchatra, a position she’s held since 2003.
