Ruth Gehres, an Ursuline Sister of Mount St. Joseph, has been a teacher and college administrator and served as director of communication for her community. She has a doctorate in English from St. Louis University. From 2007 to 2013, Gehres ministered at the Dianna Ortiz Ursuline Center for Women (Casa Ursulina), an outreach to women of low income in Chillán, Chile. Currently, she is involved in communications, teaching English as a second language, and various internal ministries at the Ursuline Motherhouse in Maple Mount, Kentucky.

Our sisters from Vietnam

After six years living and working in Chile, in 2013 I returned to live at our motherhouse in rural Kentucky. In Chile, at Casa Ursulina, I loved my ministry to and with a remarkable community of women of low income. But I had just turned 80 and was looking for something less strenuous.
