Pompea Cornacchia is an Italian Comboni Missionary Sister, who has worked for more than 20 years in Latin America: Ecuador, Colombia and currently in Tapachula, Mexico. Working as a psychospiritual therapist, she has dedicated herself to the ministry of listening and accompaniment. Along with pastoral work with vulnerable people, she spent 13 years in vocation and formation ministry for her congregation. She worked briefly in Isiro, Democratic Republic of Congo, and presently is sharing life with migrant women as she serves on the border between Mexico and Guatemala.

'Effatá' program supports migrant women

The city of Tapachula in Chiapas, Mexico, is a place of transit for thousands of migrants. Comboni Missionary Sisters have established a program called "Effatá" that provides welcome, support and healing to migrants.
