Mary Kay Dobrovolny is a Sister of Mercy of the Americas. She serves as a vocation minister for her congregation. She lives in an intentional community located at the U.S.-Mexico border in Southern California. Casa de Misericordia is composed of persons of diverse genders, backgrounds, ages and faith traditions; community members seek to be a listening presence among migrant persons and responsive to need through direct service and systemic action.

Even a silent witness offers God's mercy and love

Someone was killed outside my window. I saw nothing. I heard everything. My heart broke for the family. And I stayed on the other side of the wall, hidden from view, holding them in prayer.
