Marian Champika Hanzege is a member of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary from Sri Lanka. After her final profession, she studied psychology and counseling, craft work, rehabilitation of drug addicts, and parish catechetics; she taught nursery school, did parish ministry and worked in a leprosy hospital. Beginning a new mission to Peru in 2008, she carried out pastoral work in rural areas, where she worked with young girls in boarding houses, parishes, women’s centers and as a vocation promoter.

Living the charism during the pandemic in Peru

I live in an outlying area of Lima, Peru. For me, the pandemic has been a call to live my commitments as a Franciscan Missionary of Mary with great intensity, in a new way.

Wherever you go, the Lord will be with you

I am from Sri Lanka, but God called me for missions far from my land. I answered: "Here I am, send me." With joy and enthusiasm, I went to share my life in mission with the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary in Peru.
