Jean Quinn is a member of the Congregation of the Daughters of Wisdom. She worked with the homeless in Dublin, Ireland for many years, where she founded Sophia Housing — now celebrating its 21st year as an organization committed to providing a holistic approach in supporting people on their journey from homelessness. She served in congregational administration as Provincial Councillor, Provincial of England, Ireland and Scotland, and in the executive group of the Conference of Religious of Ireland. She is currently the executive director of UNANIMA International, an NGO at the U.N. which is a coalition of 22 groups of women religious. She continues her work with the homeless as the co-chair of the NGO Working Group to End Homelessness.

Giving voice to those left furthest behind
Homelessness is an human rights issue, and we urgently need a paradigm shift away from the many abusive attitudes and beliefs that circulate around it. So the sisters of UNANIMA, with various partners, are embarking on a research project to explore the root causes and drivers, challenges, good practices and wider issues surrounding family homelessness.
My encounter with wisdom
Jennifer and the many women I have worked with over the years taught me the meaning of life, love, encounter, and of what happens between people who allow themselves to be known.
